PETA AND HSUS...THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT WHAT THEY WANT.....
I know...I understand that people who love animals want to help them.  We want to see
them happy and well fed, well cared for and living a safe long life.  Unfortunately there
are people who do not share our beliefs and goals in regards to animals.  These people
have learned to cloak themselves in rhetoric and emotion and through the legislative
process have made tremendous strides in implementing their agenda into all our lives.
I have excerpted here; quotes from people intimately involved with the [supposed] animal
rights groups.  If you truly care about the animals that share your life with you, the ones
who give you unabashed adoration, who don't care what you look like when you get up
in the morning, how much money you make or what kind of car you drive.....
PLEASE!!
Read the following quotes and
REALIZE WHAT THEY REALLY WANT TO DO TO YOU
AND ME...AND OUR ANIMALS!!
STOP CONTRIBUTING TO THEIR WELL
ORGANIZED AND WELL FUNDED MAIL-ORDER CAMPAIGNS...THE MONEY YOU
GIVE THEM DOESN'T GO TO THE ANIMALS...IT GOES TO TAKING AWAY YOUR
RIGHTS TO HAVE ONE!!

"I don't use the word 'pet'.  I think it's speciesist language.  I prefer 'companion animal.'
For one thing, we would no longer allow breeding.  People could not create different
breeds.  There would be no pet shops.  If people had companion animals in their homes,
those animals would HAVE to be refugees from the animal shelters and the streets.  You
would have a protective relationship with them just as you would with an orphaned child.
But as the surplus of cats and dogs (artificially engineered by centuries of forced
breeding) declined, EVENTUALLY COMPANION ANIMALS WOULD BE PHASED OUT,
AND WE WOULD RETURN TO A MORE SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIP-ENJOYMENT
AT A DISTANCE."  (Capitals are mine to emphasize what she's really saying)  Ingrid
Newkirk, PETA vice president, quoted in The Harper's Forum Book, Jack Hitt, ed., 1989
pg 223.

"We have no ethical obligation to preserve the different breeds of livestock produced
through selective breeding.  One generation and out.  WE HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH
THE
EXTINCTION OF DOMESTIC ANIMALS.  They are creations of human selective
breeding."  Wayne Pacelle, Senior VP of Humane Society of the US (HSUS), formerly of
Friends of Animals and Fund for Animals, Animal People, May 1993
and...............
When asked if he envisioned a future without pets,
"IF I HAD MY PERSONAL VIEW,
PERHAPS THAT MIGHT TAKE HOLD.  IN FACT, I DON'T WANT TO SEE ANOTHER
DOG OR CAT BORN."
Wayne Pacelle quoted in Bloodties: Nature, Culture and the
Hunt by Ted Kerasote, 1993, pg. 266.

In probably her most outrageous quote, Ingrid Newkirk says; "I'm not only uninterested in
having children, I am opposed to having children.  Having a purebred human baby is like
having a purebred dog; it is nothing by vanity, human vanity"  Ingrid Newkirk, PETA's
founder and president, New Yorker magazine, April 23, 2003  (Can we all be glad she
had no children, and perhaps wish her parents had shared her opinion?)

The agenda of the "animal rights" people:  Please read and pay particular attention to #
11
1.  Abolish by law animal research.
2.  Outlaw the use of animals for cosmetic and product testing, classroom
demonstrations and weapons development.
3.  Vegetarian meals should be made available at all public institutions, including schools.
4.  Eliminate all animal agriculture (This includes animals used for food).
5.  End herbicides, pesticides, and other agricultural chemicals.
6.  Outlaw predator control.
7.  Transfer enforcement of animal welfare legislation away from the dept of Agriculture.
8.  Eliminate fur ranching and end the use of furs.
9.  Prohibit hunting, trapping and fishing.
10. End the international trade in wildlife goods.
11. STOP ANY FURTHER BREEDING OF COMPANION ANIMALS, INCLUDING
PUREBRED DOGS AND CATS.  SPAYING AND NEUTERING SHOULD BE
SUBSIDIZED BY STATE AND MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENTS.  COMMERCE IN
DOMESTIC AND EXOTIC ANIMALS FOR THE PET TRADE SHOULD BE ABOLISHED.
12. End the use of animals in entertainment.
"The Politics of Animal LIberation" written by Kim Barlett, Editor of the Animals Agenda,
Nov. 1987

People, I know it seems absolutely out of this world to think that at some time in the
future we would not be "allowed" to have a pet dog or cat, and before bird lovers, people
who have horses, cows, sheep, goats, reptiles etc think it isn't heading their way...it is!
Dogs and cats are just the more obvious animals kept as pets and once the animal rights
extremists get their toe in the door ALL companion animals are at risk.  Veterinarians-this
is your profession and your life style that is at risk...you won't be able to keep your doors
open if people don't have pets anymore.....
I want to think this is an aberration, that it's just a bad dream and we'll all wake up but it's
becoming horribly clear to me that it isn't.  Draconian legislation has been introduced and
in some locations PASSED INTO LAW and people are right now, as I write and you read,
losing their rights to make their own decisions regarding their pets.  In some places
they're losing their rights to even have pets.

Thank you for reading this, I know it's a lot...if you take anything away, please take this:
WE MUST STAND UP TO THE EXTREMISTS IF WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO HAVE
THE RIGHT TO DECIDE THAT WE WANT TO SHARE OUR LIVES WITH A PET, AND
THE TWO MOST IMPORTANT THINGS WE CAN DO ARE TO: 1) CUT THEIR
INCOME AND 2) STOP THEIR ATTEMPTS AT LEGISLATING ANIMALS OUT OF
EXISTENCE.  Research where your charitable donations go, DON'T SUPPORT PETA
AND HSUS!!!
